Sometimes, love hasn’t found us yet. Or it hasn’t been reciprocated. Or it’s been lost to time and memory.
This month’s mix is a testament to not just the love we have felt, still feel, and will feel, but also the yearning. The longing. The intensity of focus on a missing connection to a powerful source of love in one’s life.
Some of my favorite love songs and love-adjacent songs come from the realm of alternative music.
Distorted, reverb-drenched walls of guitar. Swelling waves of dreamy vocals. Twangy midwest emo riffs. Glistening synths that shine in the night before fading into nothingness. The earnest, heart-wrenching lyrical lament of lost love.
